Every "best of" site says it's independent. Here's the actual process behind every bench on SavvyDime, in enough detail that you could audit us. Because you should be able to.
Every bench is curated by Vic Moreau — flour on the carpet for vacuums, the same movie scene on every TV, thermometers in the wine fridges. Products earn a bench spot through testing and the numbers below; no brand can buy, sponsor, or lobby a placement. We have no "featured partner" program, and we don't accept free review units in exchange for coverage.
1 · Real-world performance — how it did in hands-on testing against its direct rivals.
2 · Real demand — how many shoppers actually buy it month after month, and whether that holds up once the launch buzz fades.
3 · Long-term ownership — what keeps coming up once people have lived with it for months: the flaw everyone hits, or the feature nobody would give back.
What's never weighed: commission. Retailer payouts differ per product — our ranking code doesn't know those numbers, and neither does Vic when he ranks a bench.
Affiliate commission, and nothing else. When you buy through our links, the retailer pays us a small cut at no extra cost to you — the full detail is in our Affiliate Disclosure. The firewall is simple: commission data lives on one side, rankings live on the other, and they never meet. When we tell you to skip a product, we're voting against our own revenue. We're fine with that — it's why you'll come back.
Specs change, listings get merged, and sometimes a pick ages badly. When you spot it, tell Vic — a real person reads every message, and a pick that no longer deserves its spot loses it. No quiet edits pretending it never happened.
"If I wouldn't buy it for my own family, it doesn't get the green light. That's the whole company policy. It fits on a sticky note."
